Testimony by Val Walton

Good morning everyone,

As you know on my Facebook page and on my twitter I am always encouraging everyone to share their testimony if they have one and Val emailed me hers and it was truly a blessing! Remember that in Revelation 12:11 it says that we overcome by the words of our testimony. I hope you are blessed as much as I was by it:

Hi,

My name is Val Walton. I saw your tweet about sharing my testimony, so I thought I would share.

I was a runner. I would train hard for races. I was up at the crack of dawn, training and running all over Birmingham, AL, for the October 2011 Marine Corps Marathon that I would ultimately run with a dear friend. I also was disciplined in getting my miles in for my half-marathon training and making my long runs.
God used an injury and 1 Corinthians 9: 24-25 and Acts 20:24 to show that I was like most runners devoted, disciplined and going hard after a crown through running that would not last and, before God, had no eternal value when I was not going just as hard or harder for the race that matters and has eternal value. My goal is to be like the apostle Paul to finish the race and task Jesus gave me to testify to the gospel of God's grace. I am now up early, sometimes at the crack of dawn, but I am now in God's Word to learn His ways, to know Him and to get my directions from Him for my day, my life. I am disciplined now to meet with The Lord at least twice a day, not to do daily runs. I now know I will have no physical bread before I get my daily spiritual Bread (Jesus). My interest in running has waned, but I am so excited that I am being prepared to make a short mission trip to share Christ’s love and the Gospel to orphans. I am in preparation to tell others about God's grace through Jesus crucified and resurrected. I can be successful in lots of things in the sight of man that have no real relevance other than to post on Facebook for likes and have the applause of fickle man. My reward is in heaven, not likes on Facebook. I realise now that it’s the eternal that matters, doing work to advance the Kingdom of God and to do the good work God ordained for me long ago! I am being transformed to be used for His glory, not mine.My soul sings to the Lord for removing the scales from my eyes! I am now in training for the Right race.

I am 48, about to turn 49 in October. I have never been married. It has not been easy to stay the course and trust while watching others appear to find love so easily, but I believe in my heart that I will get married to a true man of God. We will have a ministry to let people know that God's grace is indeed amazing.

May God continue to bless you Val as you work in ministry for the kingdom and wait on God and thanks again for sharing your testimony!

The Modesty Survey III

  1)     Standards can vary for different occasions. (e.g., a formal spaghetti strap dress at a wedding is more modest than a spaghetti strap top at the movie theater). Age Comments 15 Occasion is the wrong word, setting is a better word. In the living room of your own house, without any guests, sisters could probably wear almost any thing without being immodest, although their actions will still have to be modest. Outside of the home I don't think there should be a difference of standards. 18 I have questions about this. I personally have been bothered by some of the wedding dresses I've seen recently. I think I will encourage my future fiancĂ©e to choose a dress that is beyond reproach, with no possibility of causing someone to stumble. ...

The Modesty Survey I

In doing research for the topic of modesty, I stumbled across this very controversial survey, The Modesty Survey. The Modesty Survey is an anonymous discussion between Christian guys and girls on the topic of modesty. Apparently hundreds of Christian girls contributed to the 148-question survey and over 1,600 Christian guys submitted 150,000+ answers, including 25,000 text responses, over a 20-day period in the year of 2007. Usually you would think this is a dream come true for Christian women to be able to pick a Christian man’s brain on such a controversial issue. Initially in 2007 it was a hit and now the women who had contributed along with other men who had participated in the survey now feel that it was the worst thing that they could have done. After reading the views of both parties, I want to encourage you to read the points of view and form your own personal opinion of the survey. The links posted below are from one of the females and one of the males that took part in con...

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #1

Hey ladies, I hope you all are enjoying the new year so far, but I came across a post on a group encouraging singles to pray for the month of January for their future spouse. Then after a little research I came across this "31 Days of Prayer for your Husband" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. It just dropped in my spirit that why can't we pray these things for our future spouses, we may not know who they are, or when God is going to send them, but as wives to be we can bless our future husbands by praying for them. This will enable us to be the godly wives God has called us to be.  Earnest prayer for your future husband is good for him, for you and the spiritual health of your future home (Proverbs 31:11-12).  Satan desires to destroy your  future husband, especially his character and his leadership in your upcoming relationship. Trust God through prayer as you daily surrender your husband to be and  future marriage to the Lord’s wise, loving care. So let's commit to this...
