Testimony by Val Walton

Good morning everyone, As you know on my Facebook page and on my twitter I am always encouraging everyone to share their testimony if they have one and Val emailed me hers and it was truly a blessing! Remember that in Revelation 12:11 it says that we overcome by the words of our testimony. I hope you are blessed as much as I was by it: Hi, My name is Val Walton. I saw your tweet about sharing my testimony, so I thought I would share. I was a runner. I would train hard for races. I was up at the crack of dawn, training and running all over Birmingham, AL, for the October 2011 Marine Corps Marathon that I would ultimately run with a dear friend. I also was disciplined in getting my miles in for my half-marathon training and making my long runs. God used an injury and 1 Corinthians 9: 24-25 and Acts 20:24 to show that I was like most runners devoted, disciplined and going hard after a crown through running that would not last and, before God, had no eternal value when I was not goin...

Prayers for the Month of April

Happy April ladies! We are officially in the month where we commemorate the Lord's death and resurrection. It is so important to reflect on such an historic event because without Christ dying for our sins and loving us so much we would not have the abundant life, the many blessings and access to Him because of this event. For this month I want us not to only reflect on Christ's death and resurrection, but to pray for these three things: 1) Pray that we will learn to trust God and give EVERYTHING, and not somethings over to Him. For me it was one of the hardest things to do in my walk with God because it is hard to give over all control and not know what is going to happen ahead. But when we decide to accept Him into our lives we must submit to His will, His way and the plans He has for our lives and in order to grow and increase our faith in Him we have to trust Him more.  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry  about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, w...

Are You Like Sarah?

Good morning to all, I am sorry I have been away for a while, but I am back. School has truly been a balancing act this year. However, I have still been busy studying and growing in Christ along with balancing family, school and friends. At the beginning of the year I decided to start studying women of the Bible and it has been a truly life changing experience to really look into the lives of these women and see myself. The first woman I want to talk about is Sarah.             Sarah is one of the most beautiful women in the Bible and, her name means, “Chieftainness” or “Princess”.   Every time I reflect on the story of Sarah I remember her precisely as the wife of Abraham who could not wait on God and took matters into her own hands, a strong willed woman. Then after creating the problem, she treated Hagar, her handmaid, horribly. One could term Sarah as a “diva.” Beautiful, married to such a rich, intelligent and most impor...

Prayers for the Month of February

Good morning to you all, I just pray that the 31 days of praying for your future husbands has been refreshing and it brought you closer to God as it did for me. It has made me trust in Him more while waiting on the one He has in store just for me. It brought a sense of hope knowing that my future husband is coming soon. Happy February to all and this month the spirit laid on my heart to prayer for/against three things this month. As we all know this month is the month of love, but the Holy Spirit said that we as single women waiting should concentrate on: 1) Praying for Strength Let's remember that in 2 Corinthians 2:19 it says, " And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." So let's continue to prayer for strength in this season in our lives. 2) Praying for Patience Isaiah 40:31 says, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew theor strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, ...

Why is Modesty Important to Me As A Woman of God? (Physical Modesty) (Part V)

Greetings to all! I know I have been away for a while, started school again and I have been trying to get back into the swing of things and balance it all, but I am back. Ready to tackle this controversial topic of physical modesty. I want to address the reasons why I dress modestly and what I find to be modest and immodest. This is based on personal opinion and some may not agree, but I just want to get some people thinking……… In the last post I left the question, “ As a woman of God, do you dress modestly?” First and foremost I want to answer this question myself.  I think that as a woman of God I dress quite modestly, my father and brother will say that sometimes my pants are a bit too tight, but that’s the only complaint I have gotten from men that care about my way of dress. I never have my breast, back, or stomach out for the world to see, or wear shorts that are so short you can see all that God has blessed me with. I dress modestly and try to be a good representatio...

What To Do While Waiting (Natural Preparation)

Hopefully we have all come to terms that we have to wait on God and are content with whatever His will may be for our lives. We know what to do spiritually while we wait for our husbands, pray, focus on God’s promises, devote ourselves in ministry and live in the present and not the future, but what can we do naturally?   In the last post I shared with you all that God laid on my heart in relation to the parable of the ten virgins and how He revealed that yes you are waiting, but in waiting there has to be preparation. Just like the five wise virgins prepared for the coming of the bridegroom by having extra oil in their lamps, we too must prepare spiritually and naturally for the man of God that He wants to bless us with. My mother always tells me that why do single women think that God is going to bless them with a man of God when they themselves are not in order (relationship with Christ, others, not bearing the fruit of the spirit, not living right etc.). It is very tru...

Why Should I Wait On God?

Yet another friend gets engaged or married or even starts a new relationship. And yes you are still alone, waiting…. Waiting for your happily ever after, waiting on your prince charming, waiting, as we singles say, to start life. But are we truly waiting on God? Wait is defined by Webster’s dictionary as, “to remain stationary in readiness or expectation, to stay in place in expectation of.” As was stated in my last post over a week ago, I let it go and have totally given God full control over the area concerning my love life. I have had a peace that passes all understanding, putting total trust in Him and His plan for my life. Yes I long to be in love, be married, have kids and live happily ever after, but I remember a verse that a mother in my church always encouraged me with. It says in Matthew 6:33 (KJV), “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This verse says ALL things, not some, but ALL things will ...
