Testimony by Val Walton

Good morning everyone, As you know on my Facebook page and on my twitter I am always encouraging everyone to share their testimony if they have one and Val emailed me hers and it was truly a blessing! Remember that in Revelation 12:11 it says that we overcome by the words of our testimony. I hope you are blessed as much as I was by it: Hi, My name is Val Walton. I saw your tweet about sharing my testimony, so I thought I would share. I was a runner. I would train hard for races. I was up at the crack of dawn, training and running all over Birmingham, AL, for the October 2011 Marine Corps Marathon that I would ultimately run with a dear friend. I also was disciplined in getting my miles in for my half-marathon training and making my long runs. God used an injury and 1 Corinthians 9: 24-25 and Acts 20:24 to show that I was like most runners devoted, disciplined and going hard after a crown through running that would not last and, before God, had no eternal value when I was not goin...

Prayers For The Month of April

Happy April! I am so sorry I have been away for a while, but I am back by the grace of God. School got extremely hectic, but my thoughts and prayers were always with you! It's amazing how the page has received so much views and attention! Thanks for your support! So as we know this is the month that we commemorate the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We think about the love that kept Him on the cross for you and me. So for the month of April I am asking that we pray for three things: 1) Patience so that we can wait on God's timing. " But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."   Romans 8:25 (ESV) 2) The love of God. Christ died just for me and you because of love, let's pray to be His hands extended and show that love each and every day! " But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. " Romans 5:8 (KJV) 3) A spirit of gratef...

Prayers For The Month of July

Happy July ladies! We have to give thanks to God, we have made it through half of the year of 2014! In this month ladies, I know the ongoing engagement and wedding frenzy continues…We just have to continue to trust God and wait on Him! So for the month of July ladies I want you to pray for a few things. 1) Pray for Patience to wait on whatever you have asked God for. James 1:2-4 (KJV) says, " My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;   Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.   But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." 2) Pray that you will continue to trust God and stand on His promises. For Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) says, " Trust in the   Lord   with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." 3) Pray for a heart like Christ. Pray that you could have a heart that is full of ...

Prayers for the Month of June

Happy June ladies! We are at the midpoint of the year! Thank God for sparing our lives to make it this far! We know that prayer is the way that we communicate with God and we know that prayer changes things! Mark 11:24 (NIV) says, " Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." So there are a few things the spirit has laid on my heart that I think we should pray on this month! 1) Pray against the spirit of jealousy and envy. Lately there has been so many of my friends and colleagues getting engaged and married and here I am still single, and waiting and sometimes you may envy their relationships. Remember that it will happen in God's time and not ours! Solomon said in Proverbs 14:30 (KJV), " A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot." So let's preserve our bones and be happy for our friends and colleagues as they embark on important journeys knowing that Go...

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #23

Day #23 Dear heavenly Father, I pray that my future husband  will be a good father—disciplining our children wisely and loving them unconditionally. If he does not become a father in our union, I pray that he will find a young man to mentor in the things of the Lord. In Jesus' name I pray Amen! (Eph. 6:4; Col. 3:21; 2 Tim. 2:1-2)

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #14

Day #14 Dear heavenly Father, I pray that my future husband   will speak words that build me and our family, and reflect a heart of love. I pray that he will not use filthy language. (Prov. 18:21; Eph. 4:29)

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #12

Day #12 Dear heavenly Father, I pray that my future husband  will yield his sexual drive to the Lord and practice self control. I pray that our sexual intimacy together will be fresh, positive, and a reflection of selfless love. In  Jesus' name I pray Amen! (Prov. 5:15, 18; 1 Cor. 7:3; Song of Solomon 7:10)

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #6

Day #6 Dear heavenly Father, I pray that my future husband will love righteousness and hate wickedness, especially the evils of the culture. I pray that he will recognize and avoid wickedness in his own life, and if necessary, take a clear, strong stand against evil. In Jesus' name I pray, amen!  (Prov. 27:12; John 17:15; 1 Cor. 10:12-13)

31 Days of Praying for Your Future Husband.....Day #4

Day #4 Dear heavenly Father, I pray that my future husband will grow in leadership skills in our relationship—protecting and providing for me. I pray that he will lead me wisely and love me sacrificially like You loved the church, so that You will be glorified in our marriage. In Jesus's name, amen! (Eph. 5:25-29; Col. 3:19)

Why Is Modesty Important To Me As A Woman of God? (Spiritual Modesty) (Part II)

In the first post about modesty, I just outlined my feelings on modesty and how disappointed I have become that Christian women don’t regard modesty as highly as they should. This can be seen not only their dress but also in their behavior, attitudes and speech. In this post I want to deal with the spiritual aspect of modesty. So let’s get the ball rolling, what is modesty? Endlessly I searched and searched for a definition that could encompass the aspect of modesty that the Holy Spirit had laid on my heart. I almost gave up on the post, but I decided to give it one more try. In my last effort to work on this topic I stumbled across the Mormon’s definition of what they termed as modesty and it shocked me to see how accurate the definition was to what God had given me. In the book, “True to The Faith,” by the Latter Day Saints it says that, “Modesty is an attitude of humility, decency in dress, grooming, language and behavior. If you are modest, you do not draw undue attention to y...

What To Do While Waiting.....(Spiritual Preparation)

So God says to wait… Wait for the husband, wait for the kids…So many thoughts come to mind, all the lonely Valentine’s Days, having to observe the happiness of all the other couples, and more importantly that feeling of loneliness. So what am I going to do while I wait? In this entry I want to deal with what we can do spiritually while we wait on our husbands. In the last post I emphasized the benefits of waiting on God, the five R’s, Refreshment, Restoration, Revelation, Renewed Strength and Redirection. When I thought about writing this posts, and through prayer and meditation the Holy Spirit laid on my heart the parable of the ten virgins. They all looked the same from their physical appearance, but five were wise, and five were foolish. Five of them were prepared and five were unprepared. The parable of the ten virgins has been heard over and over again. The emphasis is on how we need to be ready as the five wise virgins for the coming of the Lord. But as the Holy Spirit k...
